Medical & nutritional disclaimer

Lyte Lab is an educational tool. The information, formulas, and recommendations provided on this site are for general informational purposes only and are not intended as medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Lyte Lab is not a healthcare provider, registered dietitian, pharmacy, supplement manufacturer, or seller of ingestible products. The site helps model electrolyte formulas and compare publicly available product data; it does not prescribe a nutrition plan or verify that any ingredient is safe for your individual use.

The recipes and formulations generated by the builder tool are user-configured. You are solely responsible for verifying the safety and suitability of any mix you create and consume. Individual tolerance to carbohydrates, electrolytes, caffeine, and other ingredients varies widely.

Consult a qualified healthcare professional or registered dietitian before making changes to your nutrition strategy, especially if you have any medical conditions, food allergies, or are taking medication.

Lyte Lab does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any nutritional data, calculations, or scientific references presented on this site.

Product labels, prices, ingredient availability, and scientific evidence can change. You should confirm current labels, serving sizes, ingredient warnings, allergens, and usage directions before purchasing or consuming anything.

Caffeine safety warning

Caffeine is a potent stimulant. Overconsumption can cause serious adverse effects including rapid heartbeat, cardiac arrhythmia, seizures, and in extreme cases, death. The FDA recommends that healthy adults consume no more than 400mg of caffeine per day from all sources combined (coffee, tea, pre-workout supplements, and electrolyte).

Measurement precision. Caffeine powder is active at very small quantities. A measurement error of even 1 gram can represent a medically significant overdose. If you choose to add caffeine to a formulation, you must use a precision scale accurate to at least 0.01g. Lyte Lab is not responsible for dosing errors.

Incomplete mixing and batch preparation. If caffeine powder is not thoroughly and uniformly dissolved or dispersed in your mix, individual servings drawn from the same batch may contain significantly more or less caffeine than intended. This is especially dangerous when preparing larger batches, dry pre-mixes, or powdered blends where caffeine can settle, clump, or distribute unevenly. Always mix caffeine into liquid directly and stir or shake thoroughly. Do not rely on dry-blending alone to achieve uniform caffeine distribution.

Vulnerable populations. Caffeine should be avoided or limited by individuals who are pregnant, nursing, under 18, or who have heart conditions, anxiety disorders, or caffeine sensitivity. Consult a physician if you take any medication that may interact with caffeine.

Assumption of risk. By adding caffeine to any formulation using the Lyte Lab builder, you acknowledge that you understand these risks and accept full responsibility for the safe handling, accurate measurement, thorough mixing, and appropriate consumption of caffeine in your mix.

Carbohydrate & sugar intake warning

Lyte Lab is designed for healthy adults who want to create custom electrolyte formulations. The formulations produced by this tool may contain significant amounts of sodium, potassium, magnesium, and other minerals that should be consumed responsibly and in accordance with individual health needs.

Potassium safety. Excessive potassium intake (hyperkalemia) can be dangerous, particularly for individuals with kidney disease or those taking potassium-sparing medications. Do not exceed 1000mg of potassium per serving without medical supervision.

Pre-existing conditions. Individuals with kidney disease, heart conditions, hypertension, or those on medications affecting electrolyte balance (diuretics, ACE inhibitors, potassium-sparing drugs) should consult a physician before using electrolyte supplements of any kind, including formulations created with Lyte Lab.

Context matters. The research referenced on this site covers electrolyte physiology, fluid absorption, and mineral supplementation. Individual needs vary based on diet, activity level, climate, health conditions, and medications. You are responsible for ensuring your electrolyte intake is appropriate for your specific situation and health status.

Privacy policy

Lyte Lab is operated by Rocky Mountain Logic LLC. This privacy policy describes how we handle your information.

What we collect. Lyte Lab collects the minimum data needed to provide its features:

  • Email address (optional) — only if you choose to subscribe for updates or associate saved mixes with email.
  • Anonymous identifier— a randomly generated token stored in your browser's local storage, used to associate saved mixes with your browser session. This token does not directly identify you unless it is associated with other information, such as your email address.
  • Saved mix data — recipe names, ingredients, and quantities you choose to save.
  • Analytics data — page views, referrer, device/browser type, and approximate (city-level) location, collected via Google Analytics 4. IP addresses are used only to derive approximate location and are not stored. Analytics data is pseudonymous and is not linked to your email, anon token, or saved mixes.
  • Security and rate-limit data — IP address, request timing, and related technical metadata used to prevent abuse and keep the service reliable.

How we use your data. Your account data (email, saved mixes) is used exclusively to provide site functionality and, if you opt in, to send occasional email updates. Aggregated analytics data is used to understand traffic patterns and improve the site. We do not sell any data to third parties.

Data storage. Data is stored in a secure, hosted PostgreSQL database. Email addresses and mix data are retained until you request deletion or we no longer need them to provide the service.

Data requests. To request access, correction, or deletion of your email or saved data, contact us at the email listed below. We may need information to verify the request. We will process deletion and privacy requests within a reasonable time and in accordance with applicable law.

Cookies & local storage. Lyte Lab uses browser local storage to persist your builder state and anonymous token. We also set first-party Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) on the lytelab.com domain to measure site traffic. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by enabling your browser's tracking-prevention features.

Do Not Track. Some browsers send "Do Not Track" signals. Because there is no consistent industry standard for those signals, Lyte Lab does not currently respond to them. You can use browser privacy settings, tracking prevention, or the Google Analytics opt-out tool to limit analytics tracking.

Third-party processors. We use service providers to operate the site, including web hosting, database/storage, analytics, and security/rate-limit infrastructure. These providers process data on our behalf to provide, secure, measure, and improve Lyte Lab. We do not sell personal information.

California and other privacy rights. Depending on where you live and whether a particular privacy law applies to Lyte Lab, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain processing of your personal information. You may exercise those rights by contacting us below.

We try to disclose affiliate relationships near purchase links as well as on this page. Links marked as sponsored or described as commission-supported may generate compensation for Lyte Lab.
